Red Rose Forest & Trees for Cities...are inviting people in Chorlton to attend a community tree planting event at Parkway Playing Fields between 10am and 2pm on February 25.The event is part of ongoing efforts by Red Rose Forest and Trees for Cities to create a new area of woodland at this site for the local community. More information is available at the Red Rose Forest website. Volunteers will meet at Newbrook Avenue – there’s no need to book, people can just turn up on the day. Drinks and biscuits will be provided but volunteers should bring their own lunch. On-site toilet facilities are being arranged. Gloves and spades will also be provided, but people are welcome to bring their own tools. Good strong boots are recommended although wellington boots are a good alternative. ================================================================================= |

There will be a smaller scale event on Chorlton Green in July... watch this space for further announcements13th annual Beech Road Summer Festival 2010 ================================================================================= We are currently looking for ideas & suggestions for making this www site a really excellent local resource...=================================================================================Mencap WalkMy name is Emily Booth I work for Mencap, the leading charity for people with learning disabilities.We are holding a fully accessible sponsored walk ‘Walk With Me’ in Manchester on Saturday 3rd July at Longford Park Stadium in Chorlton Cum Hardy from 10.30-1PM. Everybody in the community is invited to come together to meet new friends and have a fun-filled day out in a safe, controlled environment. Walkers set a personal target depending on their ability and will get sponsored accordingly. Whether this is once around the track or 12.5 times (10k) around the track, this is a challenge to be celebrated! Plus Mencap will be hosting an extra special Community fete including face painters, stilt walkers and a magician to keep you entertained. We will be bringing the community together while raising funds for Mencap. It costs £5 per walker or £10 per group of four!
